Tapeless Installation

Star Grip pioneered the tapeless grip installation method over 30 years ago. It's quick, simple, neat, and allows the club to be used immediately with no drying time! What makes our grips the perfect fit for tapeless installation is that we use the highest rubber content of any grip on the market, which allows for extreme elasticity with no risk of stretching or tearing. You can install the grips over old tape, on build up tape, or directly on the bare shaft. It's also environmentally friendly as you are avoiding harmful solvents, and it takes less than 10 seconds! For those of you who prefer the “old school” tape & solvent method, you can do that as well.

Great grips

Nothing but positive things to say about the grips and the company.Very quick to respond to my questions and would love for them to make the Sidewinder in a +360. *****

very very good

Came to star grip from PURE..was a big fan of the PURE DTX and
Star STX looked to be the logical successor of the DTX in my case. Like the reduced taper..very noticeable. Don't like the very limited color options but that is likely to change in the near future. The tack and the aggressive shape is close to the DTX, but falls a little short. I am a sweater so tack and grip are very important to me. But if I were to regrip all of my clubs right now, my vote would be the Star STX.

Just right...

Star's air install is a true cheat code for grip experimentation. Through weeks of trial and error, I've settled on the Sidewinder on my wedges because of its firmer feel and feedback. The Tour Star+ 360 in contrast provides that lighter feel and texture that helps soften grip pressure promoting a better release on my irons and especially woods. I also REALLY like the reduce taper on the Tour Star+ 360 which has allowed me to go with standard size grip (preferred by my top hand) but then I add three wraps of build tape for an even larger grip for the bottom hand. All of this was flushed out through the experimentation process that had me swapping out grips every week or so. The ease of changing grips gave me the freedom to truly explore. The quality of the grips and the ease of install has me firmly in the Star Grip fan club!

Almost Excellent

I’ve been considering Star Grips for several years. The initial appeal was the ability to install them myself—I've grown tired of paying to have grips installed. As a tinkerer who loves to change things up, this was a big plus. When I saw that a full set purchase included the installation gun, I knew it was finally time to give them a try.

I ordered a set for my irons and wedges. The only remaining decision was whether to leave the old grip tape on or remove it. I installed one grip with tape and one without to test the feel. In the end, I decided to leave the existing tape on—the thickness was perfect. I like the texture of the grip, and the tackiness is solid. I haven’t tested them in the rain yet, so I can’t speak to wet weather performance. Initially, the grips were a little slick, likely due to the manufacturing residue. I gave them a quick wash and they’ve felt great ever since.

Installation:
It was easy—after the first three grips. You really have to get a feel for how to hold the grip and guide it on properly. It’s a loud process, so I wouldn't recommend doing it in your living room like I did! I used a small benchtop suction vise on the kitchen counter, and it worked perfectly.

Now, the downside—shipping and communication.
It took 18 days to receive an order that was marked in stock when I placed it. After 10 days with no update, I called to check in. They answered promptly, apologized, and said the grips were being made that day and would ship the next. Even then, it still took another 8 days. The delay wasn’t a huge issue for me, but it did dampen my excitement a bit.

STX = Solid

Finally got around to installing these on my irons. (Super easy by the way with a portable tire inflator and some soapy water). I only have one round with them, but so far, I'm impressed. I've never played grips with this much texture, but I think I like it. Great job Star Grip!

New Stx are great

Soft but still with a lot of texture these are an absolutely great grip. Only thing that will get me switching is if they did some jumbo sized ones or some new color options so as soon as those come out I’m sure I will be getting some more

Great feel

I love the texture of these grips way better than the Pure grips I replaced. I play in high humidity and it seems like the more I sweat, the tackier the grips get!
Installation was a breeze

Ballooning

I insulted them on my whole set. They look and feel great. My only problem was I had a couple balloon on me. When I tried taking two of them off they expanded like a balloon.

Used Star Grip For Years

I've been using Star Grip Sidewinder 360's for years. The feel is great and they last for a long time. They are easy to keep clean and retain the tacky feel.

Sidewinder - Midsize

Recently changed my grips over to Star Sidewinders. They offer a soft feel. Glad I made the switch to Star grips.

Very nice

I'm a first time buyer of Star Grips. Tried the STX and after using them for 4 or 5 rounds, I'm sold. They don't move around, and are very tacky. Installation with the free installation tool was very easy after the first couple of clubs. It took longer to clean the old stuff off than to install the new ones. I'll be back!

Sidewinder golf grips

I don’t wear glove for over 15 years this is the one. I’ve tried (mcc, winn, cp2, etc). It doesn’t slip out of my hand. When raining just have a dry towel handy in few seconds it becomes tacky.

No grip is perfect but this one sidewinder agrees with me.

Best Wrap Grip IMO

I like to put Wraps on my woods. GP's feels plasticky, but Star's is nice and soft while maintaining plenty of grip. Really great option if you like the shape and feel of Wraps but didn't like GP's plasticky surface feel.

Love Star!

This is my first purchase from Star after having used the other solvent free brand (Pxxx) for years. I'm so glad I found Star. These grips have some of the best tactile feel in the industry, they're durable, and they're confidence-inspiring in the hands. They feel tackier and softer (but not squishy) than GP and Lamkin versions. Great grip.

Star Sidewinder 360 grip

I have played three rounds with these new grips. The grips have a nice feel and getting use to them, but I wish I had used a couple of wraps of build up tape for my right hand. They are thinner than what I usually played in the past. I do not have the air installation gun so I put them on the old way with tape and grip solvent. I may purchase the gun for future installations.

All grips feel okay but i do have an issue with my sand wedge where the grip at the tapered end is not fitting and does slide. All others feel stable, but I have not used them in full practice yet.

This may happen on shafts which have a .580" butt diameter, which is common on some brands of wedges. The easiest fix is to put a few wraps of build-up tape under the grip, usually 3-4 wraps depending on the thickness of the tape, to make the shaft the same diameter as the inside of the grips which are .600".

Love it

Great program and better grips

I was curious about Star Grips but didn't want to commit to buying a single grip and paying shipping for something I may not like. The sample program allowed me to purchase 3 grips and try them on different clubs to ensure a good fit throughout the bag. I have since purchased a whole set of Sidewinders and got the compressor tool as well. These grips have a fantastic feel, tack, and look. Well worth giving them a shot.

Great grip

I've used these grips for a few rounds and was very impressed.
The installation was pretty easy as well.
I bought the mid size grips, and used painters tape on the lower half to build it up some. I did run into a little issue getting the grip over the tape. After re-reading the instructions, adjusting my hand position helped out.
I do wish some info about the suggested psi for installation was provided, it took some trail and error to get it right.

Great Grip

This an amazing grip. Just the right feel. Definitely a great replacement for the PURE grips. Star Grips continues to make a solid product. Highly recommended.

Install is awesome!

I love the tapeless install and it’s really easy to put grips on and take them off. I’m personally a big fan of the Classic Wrap but I don’t understand why the pattern doesn’t go all the way around. I don’t like new markings on the bottom side of the wrap because you have to worry about lining it up properly in install. We tried a putter grip as well, the grip seems to be too short and the taper doesn’t feel quite right. Part of the feel issue may be from using other brands pistol grips and such.

Nice way to try grips

Ordered the sample grips. Wanted to see how they would work before committing. Put one on my SW. Wedge has never felt so good. Love that they are made in the US. Love the tackiness.
